This residential complex of 15 stories is replacing the former Estoril Sol Hotel, which dominated the spot for 45 years, by its original 20 stories. After becoming obsolete, the old Hotel was completely demolished, giving rise to this hybrid concrete and steel structure. The limitations in the building height and the wish to create generous gardens and a public square on the ground led to the suspension of different parts of the building. Special attention was given to the internal quality of the residences, as well as to energy-saving aspects and low costs of maintenance. The close proximity of the Atlantic Ocean constitutes a special challenge to the building. A careful detailing scheme and selection of materials allowed it to be the first building in Portugal to receive a quality certification of the façade by LNEC.

Este edifício residencial de 15 pisos veio substituir o anterior Hotel Estoril Sol, o qual dominava o local durante 45 anos, com os seus 20 pisos de altura. O edifício obsoleto foi totalmente demolido, levando à construção do novo edifício de estrutura híbrida, em betão e parcialmente em aço. A limitação na sua altura, e a vontade de criar amplos jardins e uma praça pública no piso térreo, levaram à suspensão de algumas partes do edifício em altura.

Especial atenção foi dada à qualidade interior dos apartamentos, aos aspectos de baixo consumo energético e baixos custos de manutenção. A grande proximidade do oceano Atlântico representa um desafio especial para o edifício. Uma muito cuidada pormenorização e selecção de materiais de construção permitiu que o edifício obtivesse a primeira classificação de qualidade da sua fachada, pelo LNEC.
